Experimenting: Jumboo Himalayan Herbs By Conscious Foods

My resolution for 2014 is rather basic and primal: experiment with local foods and celebrate indigenous ingredients to whatever extent possible. And this is my start. I love herbs. I have every variety of them in my pantry - if not fresh, then dry but you name it, I have it. Which is why, when Conscious Foods, which is my go-to brand for organic produce, launched the Jumboo Herbs and I saw it on the GourmetCo website, I just bought it. Only much later after it came home and I Googled it did I realise that people online know....zilch about this herb. My best bet is going to be locals from Uttarakhand and Himachal i am guessing but I am not going to wait until a trip happens.

This is what the Conscious Foods label has to say about the herb.

It tastes slightly bitter, in the lines of Kasuri Methi. The aromas are earthy, heady and intense, full bodied. I have tried adding it as a last minute garnish to simple dals and even some basic aloo recipes that are not themselves too complex in flavours, something that would allow the herb to shine. My next bet? Breads. Have any of you heard anything about this herb from your friends and family? If you have, leave me a tip in the comments!
